Located at 211 Washington St. the Carl C. Morgan Convention Center is part of the municipal complex constructed in 1976. It was named for Carl C. Morgan, who served as President of the Selma City Council from 1964-2000. He also served approximately 14 months as Mayor of Selma when Mayor Joe T. Smitherman stepped down in August 1979.

The building itself covers 10,000 square feet and is built in the Greek Revival style of architecture that dominated the 1840-1850 period. The cupola on top of the Convention Center is a faithful reproduction of the cupola that sat atop the first Alabama capitol building in Old Cahaba.

The Convention Center can seat 400 people for a dinner meeting, and 475 for a regular meeting. It has catering kitchen facilities and several conference rooms lining the main meeting room which makes it capable of handling a wide variety of events including banquets, receptions, exhibitions, dances and civic meetings.
