Employment

The Personnel Department coordinates the hiring process for all positions, except seasonal positions. Individuals seeking employment must possess the minimum requirements for positions posted. All announced positions are centrally posted in our Personnel Department at City Hall. Applications and resumes are accepted only for posted positions. All postings will indicate the opening and closing date. Therefore, applicants interested in working for the City of Selma must comply with these dates in order to be considered.

How to Apply

Employment applications are available and can be completed at the Personnel Department Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (excluding holidays) at 222 Broad Street, Selma, Alabama. Resumes are encouraged and can be submitted along with the completed employment application. Accommodations are available for those applicants with disabilities who would like to explore employment opportunities with the City of Selma.

Out-of-town persons interested in working for the City of Selma may request an employment application by phone for a specific position by contacting our Personnel Department at (334) 874-2110 or (334) 874-2117 during business hours. Applications mailed to the Personnel Office must be postmarked on or before the closing date indicated on the announcement or advertisement. All applications must be mailed or returned to the Personnel Department by the closing date deadline specified on the job announcement.
