The Selma Lead-Safe and Healthy Homes Program provides grants to address lead-based paint hazards in Selma homes. These grants are available to both homeowners and rental property owners who meet the program’s eligibility criteria. Qualified applicants may receive grants for repairs designed to eliminate lead-based paint hazards.
Examples of repairs include:
A certified Lead-Based Paint Inspector/Risk Assessor will conduct a non-invasive inspection of your property to identify potential lead hazards. This inspection, fully funded by the grant, will result in a detailed report with recommendations for the necessary work to address the hazards.
Lead-Safe Repairs
State-certified Lead Abatement Supervisors and Workers will perform the repairs using lead-safe work practices. Measures include setting up containment areas to prevent the spread of lead dust. After completing the work, specialized cleaning methods will be used to remove any remaining lead dust.
Temporary Relocation
During the repairs, you may not have access to certain areas of your home. If key areas like your bedroom, bathroom, or kitchen are affected, you’ll need to temporarily relocate to a lead-safe unit for 5–7 days.
Once the work is completed, a third-party inspector will perform a Clearance Test, which includes:
These tests ensure the repaired areas are safe to re-enter. After passing clearance, you can return to using the spaces.
Program staff will monitor and inspect the repairs to ensure safety, quality, and proper installation. Additionally, Building Inspectors will review the work to verify compliance with code requirements.
This program is an excellent resource to make your home safer and healthier while addressing lead hazards effectively!
