Larry D. Striplin Performing Arts Center

Located at 1000 Selma Avenue, the Larry D. Striplin, Jr. Performing Art Center was part of a restoration project which encompassed almost an entire city block and included the restoration of the Walton Theater, an abandoned movie theatre that had been home to the children of Selma every Saturday afternoon during the forties and fifties. Today the Performing Art Center hosts a variety of events that enhance the cultural aspects of Selma. In addition, the work of local artists is often displayed in to showcase the talents and gifts of beloved Selma citizens; admission to the exhibits is free. A recent and exciting addition to our weekly movie schedule is the showing of newly released movies on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. For ticket information and showtimes, call the Box Office at (334) 878-3456 or visit the theater’s website at  www.waltontheaterselma.com.

The Larry D. Striplin Performing Arts Center is available for rent to the general public Mondays through Wednesdays weekly. It is ideal for business meetings, small banquets, and workshops.

DISASTER RELIEF

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

One of the most effective ways to help tornado victims right now is to donate to the city’s local disaster relief program.  Our local organizations are familiar with the community and what resources are already available locally. They are also motivated to help their local community by making sure that any resources donated to them are put to good use.
